Press Release: National Fireworks Association Statement on Peter Feldman Confirmation to Consumer Products Safety Commission

WASHINGTON – National Fireworks Association Executive Director Nancy Blogin today released the following statement after the United States Senate confirmed Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) Nominee Peter Feldman by a vote of 80-19.

“On behalf of the National Fireworks Association, I want to congratulate Peter Feldman on his confirmation to the CPSC.”

“As a Commissioner, and former Congressional staffer, Peter Feldman will bring unique insights to the decision making process as the CPSC nears a decision on the proposed rule on metallic powders in the burst charges in consumer aerial fireworks.  For consumers, the NFA believes he will be a voice for safety.  We look forward to him reviewing the scientific data we provided yesterday to his soon to be colleagues on how the current CPSC NPR regarding metallic powders in burst charges of consumer aerial fireworks does not lead to an increase in the safety of consumer aerial fireworks.”

About NFA: The National Fireworks Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for the safety of consumer fireworks. Importers, distributors, manufacturers and sellers of commercial fireworks make up the over 1,200 small businesses member companies who operate in the United States.
